Books of 2012

I haven't posted the books I've been reading in a while. I now have a sidebar that tells the book I'm currently reading which is great and all but I thought I'd quickly take a moment and list the books I've read this year. In my life before 3 kids I could easily read a book a week, ah good times. (I say this with hesitancy because I really do LOVE having 3 little kids, and I'm sure one day when my kids are grown and my house is quiet I will have plenty of time to read all I want...) Even though now I am reading more like less than a book a month I still enjoy that time, it's my me time, how I relax and escape for a moment in my crazy world. I usually just read late into the night and occasionally during nap time. But when I read during nap time sometimes I feel guilty because there are 10 million things around the house that I should be getting to (actually I really should be doing some of that right now.) ANYWAY here's my list of books I've read during 2012...

Great book! I would recommend if you're an avid reader and love a good  mystery story. I loved the twist at the end.

I loved this book as well! It's a great historical fiction book, about the titanic, and it's based on true characters.

This one is a life changer. I loved it. Also historical fiction, the characters are amazing, they stay with you long after the last page is read.

Such a great book. I was hesitant at first but I really loved it.

Just finished this and it was really good. I randomly picked it up at the library in a hurry (my kids were destroying the library and I had to grab the first book I saw). It's a book of Mormon fiction story. It was surprisingly  well written.
Well there you have it, 5 books in 7 months. Not my usual turn out but that's okay, like I said one day...If you're looking for something fun to read this summer maybe this will help you make your selection:)

4th of July Dress

I saw this cute little skirt on pintrest and knew Sadie had to have it! So I actually followed the tutorial and made it and I cannot believe how good it turned out! I can't wait to see how cute it looks on Sadie tomorrow at our 4th of July celebrations!
Skirt

I needed a shirt to match so I used a long sleeve onesie that I didn't need and I made it into a short sleeve onesie.

And of course the butt needed ruffles so that when she kicks her legs you can see ruffles under the skirt!

I loved how the short sleeve turned out. I love little details. And the rosette looks perfect too!
I followed this tutorial for the sleeves.
The whole outfit.

I cannot believe something I did actually worked, and it really wasn't that hard, I did struggle with the binding and had to have some help from my mama. But overall it was pretty easy! I can't wait to make a few more dresses for my Sadie girl.

Week in review...

Well, we hit a lot of milestones this last week. It was eventful to say the least. Some good, others not so good. Here's the bigger events that happened....

-Isaac learned to swim! So proud of him, he was his usual timid self for the first few lessons but he really liked it once he got comfortable.

-Isaac learned to ride a two-wheeler! Wahoo so proud of him! I can't believe how big he is getting...

I thought I'd get the good one's out of the way first.

- I got to call poison control for the first time! This not so good... Thank you Luke for finding a bottle of children's acetaminophen (the lid was on just not on all the way) and drinking 1/3 of it. And Thank you for giving me the great opportunity to call poison control and feel like a completely incompetent mother that leaves medicine out for her 2 year old to get into. All is well though, with his weight he needed to drink 2/3 of the bottle in order to have serious problems. So Thank you again Luke for being so chubby!:)

-: I got to take Sadie to KidsCare for the first time...also not so good. She's had a fever since Tuesday, and Thursday night it spiked to just under 103 :( poor baby. She was just diagnosed with a virus and told that she should be feeling better no latter then tonight. I hate sick baby's, nothing is worse. And I sure hope she feels better soon!

Well these are the bigger things that happened, all of that filled in with a visit to the zoo,a hula hooping class, eating, sleeping, playing, cleaning etc etc.... My life is crazy, and slightly out of control, especially now that Sadie is awake a lot more during the day. But I really wouldn't have it any other way!

4 years old

I cannot believe my baby is 4! (Well I do have 3 kids so I guess it's good that he's four years old). I do love having a 4 year old around. He's so independent and the things this kid says just make my day!

Tonight we took him to dinner for his Birthday and there was a family sitting next to us and Isaac was starring at the table next to us and finally I said: Isaac what are you looking at? He said: Mom that guy looks just like Rumpelstiltskin! haha, he really did too:)

A couple weeks ago we were at Walmart and a pretty large fellow came walking down the isle and Isaac said: Mom it looks like that guy had too many doughnuts!

Oh I love my little Isaac, he is my buddy. He's such a great helper with his little sister, he's a great friend to his little brother (most of the time), he is so smart, he loves to read, he loves to play imaginary games (especially super hero games). I can't believe how quickly he has grown up!

Fiesta Chicken Pasta Memories

I was feeling nostalgic the other night as I made this delicious dinner. I got this recipe at my bridal shower 5+ years ago from Trina Grandenetti. I made it right when we first got married, and I think it was one of the first times I ever used a new recipe and we loved it! Every time I make it I am back in our little basement apartment, just newly married and our whole lives ahead of us. I loved that time it was so fun to just be together and have no one to worry about except each other. It's fun to look back and remember, and crazy to think how much has changed. I know I feel like a completely different person now then I was when I first got married. Hopefully most changes were for the better!

I thought I would share this super easy, super fast and ridiculously delicious Mexican pasta recipe so all of you can enjoy it to, and hopefully make your own memories:) !

Fiesta Chicken Pasta

Ingredients:

2 Cups Rotini Noodles
1lb chicken chopped
2 Bell peppers (green or red)
1/4 Cup Zesty Italian Dressing
1Tbsp Chili Powder
1/2 Cup Salsa
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
1/2 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Cook Noodles as directed on package. Cook chicken in skillet for 6 minutes. Add Peppers, Italian Dressing, and chili powder. Cook until chicken is cooked through. Add Salsa and sour cream. Add noodles to chicken mixture and serve with shredded cheese on top.

 Enjoy!

When Mom gets sick

When mom's get sick it's a sad, sad day. Try and think of all the times your mom was sick. Not like a cold, like down in bed can barely get up to pee kind of sick. I can only think of twice for my own mother. Otherwise she was always up, making our food, cleaning our house, taking us places. I'm sure there were other times that I just don't remember...maybe I'll have to ask her about it.
Well I am just getting over my SECOND breast infection since Sadie was born and let me tell you, it was no parade. The first one was awful, the hubs couldn't stay home from work, my mother was busy, in-laws work, and the boys were sick with colds so they couldn't go play at a friends house. Taking care of 3 kids is pretty crazy on a normal day but when mom has a fever of 103 degrees, it's down right awful.
                BUT we survived!
Through answered prayers and lots of help from above, we survived. I truly thought it was a 1 time deal though! So when this second infection hit on my other side I knew I wouldn't make it by myself this time! Again 2 full days of 103 degree fever and that severe pain in the boob (literally!) I just couldn't do it by myself and LUCKILY I didnt have to. Thankfully my parents were able to step in and Brock was able to stay home a little from work and neighbors let Isaac come play!
So good news I am up on my feet today, house is of course destroyed, again when mom gets sick nothing gets done. But it'll get put back together in time! I just want to say I'm so grateful I got to call in my sick day this time! Sort of, I still had to take care of Sadie girl, but she was helpful to get the infection out...suck, suck, suck little one even though it hurts like crazy!

SO If any one out there gets Mastitis let me know I've got some helpful tricks! Now I just need to figure out how to make sure this doesn't happen again!
